The Strong Perfect Graph Theorem

چکیده
A graph G is perfect if for every induced subgraph H, the chromatic number of H equals the size of the largest complete subgraph of H, and G is Berge if no induced subgraph of G is an odd cycle of length at least 5 or the complement of one. The “strong perfect graph conjecture” (Berge, 1961) asserts that a graph is perfect if and only if it is Berge. A stronger conjecture was made recently by Conforti, Cornuéjols and Vušković — that every Berge graph either falls into one of a few basic classes, or it has a kind of separation that cannot occur in a minimal imperfect graph. In this paper we prove both these conjectures.

Perfect Graphs and the Perfect Graph Theorems
The theory of perfect graphs relates the concept of graph colorings to the concept of cliques. In this paper, we introduce the concept of a perfect graph as well as a number of graph classes that are always perfect. We next introduce both theWeak Perfect Graph Theorem and the Strong Perfect Graph Theorem and provide a proof of the Weak Perfect Graph Theorem. We also demonstrate an application o...
متن کاملPerfect graphs: a survey
Perfect graphs were defined by Claude Berge in the 1960s. They are important objects for graph theory, linear programming and combinatorial optimization. Claude Berge made a conjecture about them, that was proved by Chudnovsky, Robertson, Seymour and Thomas in 2002, and is now called the strong perfect graph theorem. This is a survey about perfect graphs, mostly focused on the strong perfect gr...
متن کاملA note on kernels in h-perfect graphs
Boros and Gurvich [3] showed that every clique-acyclic superorientation of a perfect graph has a kernel. We prove the following extension of their result: if G is an h-perfect graph, then every clique-acyclic and odd-hole-acyclic superorientation of G has a kernel. We propose a conjecture related to Scarf’s Lemma that would imply the reverse direction of the Boros-Gurvich theorem without relyin...
متن کاملA short proof of the wonderful lemma
The Wonderful Lemma, that was first proved by Roussel and Rubio, is one of the most important tools in the proof of the Strong Perfect Graph Theorem. Here we give a short proof of this lemma.

We will extend Reed's Semi-Strong Perfect Graph Theorem by proving that unbreakable C 5-free graphs diierent from a C 6 and its complement have unique P 4-structure.
